Dr. Fred Bennett:

After growing up in central Ohio, Dr. Bennett went off to Penn State to study Ag Engineering and found his love of cows and other large animals. He graduated from Penn State with a BS in Ag Mechanization in 1984 and then from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine with his DVM in 1988. After an externship at Lisbon Veterinary Clinic during his senior year, he was hired on after graduation. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Bovine Practitioners (cattle vets), the Ohio Dairy Vets, and serves on the Ohio Department of Agriculture Cattle Health Advisory Board.

Dr. Bennett's outside interests include vegetable gardening, beekeeping, woodworking, running, and hiking. He's active in Salem First United Methodist Church including team teaching 5th & 6th grade Sunday School. His wife Yvonne is a music teacher by training. Their children are still in school - Emily is in medical school and Phil is studying mechanical engineering. Along with their honeybees, they share their house with a Greyhound, two cats, and tropical fish.

Dr. Bennett spends four days a week going to farms and one day a week in the office. His primary focus is dairy and beef cattle health with a robust mix of small ruminants and equine. In-house he enjoys challenging surgeries. But, as he is often heard telling the pre-vet and vet students, "the best part of clinical practice is the long-term relationships we build with our clients."

Dr. Gordon T. Schmucker:

Dr. Schmucker joined Lisbon Veterinary Clinic in 1998.  He is originally from Louisville, Ohio. He earned a B.S. in biology with a minor in chemistry from the University of Akron and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from The Ohio State University. 

Away from the office Dr. Schmucker enjoys spending time with his wife and his three children, as well as hunting and fishing. 

At Lisbon Veterinary Clinic, Dr. Schmucker treats dogs and cats in the office.  

Dr. Stephen B. Miletta: 

Dr. Miletta, a native of Lowellville, Ohio, joined Lisbon Veterinary Clinic in 2003.  He is a graduate of The Ohio State University where he received his B.S. in Animal Science and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees.   He is a current member of the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Equine Practitioners. 

In his spare time Dr. Miletta enjoys hunting, beekeeping and working around the house.  Dr. Miletta is happily married to a small animal veterinarian and has one daughter.  His pets include a furry dog, a quarter horse and a flock of chickens.    

Dr. Susan K. Narbey: 

Dr. Susan Narbey joined Lisbon Veterinary Clinic in July of 2006. She was raised on a dairy, beef, and crop farm in Carroll County.  She completed her undergraduate and graduate studies at The Ohio State University.  She currently resides in the Lisbon area on a crop farm.

Dr. Narbey enjoys the challenge of working with companion and large animals.

Her number one hobby is being with her husband and young daughter. She also loves spending time with her family, participating in church activities, traveling, baking, working outdoors and caring for her own animals.

Dr. Cindy M. Wanee: 

Dr. Cindy Wanee joined Lisbon Veterinary Clinic in 2010 directly after graduation from veterinary school. Dr. Wanee grew up in the suburbs outside of Pittsburgh, PA. She attended The Ohio State University for both of her degrees. She received her B.S. in Animal Sciences with honors in 2006 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2010. It was during her time at OSU that she discovered her love and appreciation for food producing animals which she pursued further as she entered veterinary school.

Dr. Wanee did mobile farm calls and in-clinic small animal appointments as a mixed animal veterinarian until 2017. At that time, she transitioned to exclusively small animal practice. Her areas of special interest include parasitology, small animal behavior, and client education.

When she isn't at the clinic, Dr. Wanee loves to cook, bake, decorate cakes, and garden. She also enjoys hiking, reading, and traveling with her family - both in and out of the United States. She is married to Kyle, the proud mom to three growing kiddos, and has a spicy orange female cat named Poppy. 

Dr. Petra Szymkowicz:

Dr. Petra Szymkowicz (Sim-ko-witz) joined Lisbon Veterinary Clinic in 2017.  She is originally from a small rural town in Vermont where she was active in 4-H.  She grew up showing Arabian horses and competed on the western riding team in college. In 2012, Dr. Szymkowicz graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a B.S. in animal science. She then obtained her doctorate of veterinary medicine from The Ohio State University.  During her time at OSU Dr. Szymkowicz was a summer extern at Lisbon Veterinary Clinic and spent more time with our practice as a fourth year veterinary student, immediately knowing she wanted to join the practice someday.  She is currently a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners and American Association of Bovine Practitioners.

Outside of the office Dr. Szymkowicz loves to stay active, travel, and spend time with her family and friends.  She usually can be found working cattle alongside her husband on their own farm, working out, rooting on the buckeyes, or exploring new parts of the world.  Her pets include an energetic farm dog, Ace, a loveable cat, Smudge, and a whole herd of angus cattle with a couple extra special red angus, Lizzie and Fiona.

Dr. Szymkowicz’s primary career interests are large animal medicine and surgery.  She enjoys working with horses, cattle, small ruminants and camelids.  Her special interests include equine reproduction, performance horse work, and beef cattle management.

Dr. Kelley Reeser:

Dr. Douglas E. Wiley (Retired):

Dr. Doug Wiley grew up on a small farm near Canfield, OH.  After graduating from Canfield High School in 1974, he attended The Ohio State University where he received his B.S in Dairy Science in 1978 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1982.  Doug started his veterinary career at Perry Veterinary Clinic in Perry, NY and then purchased the practice of Dr. Tom Liggett in August, 1984, forming the Lisbon Veterinary Clinic, Inc.

Dr. Wiley is a current member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Equine Practitioners.  He also serves on the Food Animal and Equine Advisory Board at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Doug's interests include martial arts, hunting, horses and woodworking.  Doug and his wife, Beth, have three children, all attending or graduating from The Ohio State University in agriculture-related degrees.  Doug and Beth are active members of Greenford Christian Church where they serve in the First Impressions Ministry and participate in mission work both domestic and abroad. Their pets include two Australian Shepherds, two cats and two horses.

Dr. Wiley primarily treats large animal patients and his professional interests include dairy production medicine as well as equine medicine, dentistry and reproduction.  Dr. Wiley retired from daily practice in September 2021.
