MIXED ANIMAL VETERINARIAN

We are in search of a mixed animal veterinarian to join our practice. New grads welcome. For more information, please see the full announcement on our site. Please contact our office for additional information or to set up a visit.

RECEPTIONISTS

Responsibilities include greeting clients, scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, preparation and maintenance of medical records, admitting and discharging patients, filling some prescriptions, over the counter sales, mailings, computer operation, financial transactions, filing, and front office and reception area maintenance.  Receptionists must have a pleasant demeanor and work well with others, especially in stressful situations.  Prior clerical, customer service, and computer experience preferred.  Veterinary or other medical experience strongly preferred. 

REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNICIANS - SMALL ANIMAL

Technicians are responsible for assisting the doctors and supervising the veterinary assistants.  Additional duties include: obtaining and running laboratory samples, taking radiographs, client communication, surgical assisting and anesthesia monitoring, pharmacy, operation and maintenance of instruments and equipment, inventory, daily treatment of hospitalized patients, and maintenance of the OSHA and Hazardous Materials programs.  Proficiency in performing minor medical procedures such as IV catheter placement, bandaging, and dental prophylaxis is also expected.  Some heavy lifting is required.  Occasionally, veterinary technicians may participate in field work with our large animal doctors.  Applicants must have a degree in animal health technology from a school approved by the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board or a school recognized by the American Veterinary Medical Association.  Applicants must be eligible and/or currently registered with the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board. 

REGESTERED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN - LARGE ANIMAL/EQUINE

Large animal technicians work both in the office and on the road with a large animal veterinarian.  While on the road, large animal technicians will assist in patient care and must be comfortable working with horses, cattle, pigs, camelids, and small ruminants. There may also be opportunities to work with chickens, waterfowl, honeybees, and some exotic species.  On the farm duties may include: patient handling/restraint, sample collection, surgical assisting, medication administration, patient monitoring, radiography, record keeping, billing, and client communication.  In-clinic duties include: running laboratory samples, preparing samples for submission to outside reference labs, client communication, as well as maintaining inventory and equipment. Large animal technicians may also spend time coordinating care and communication between the office, large animal veterinarians, and clients.  Proficiency in performing minor medical procedures such as IV catheter placement and bandaging is also expected.  Some heavy lifting is required. Applicants must have a degree in animal health technology from a school approved by the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board or a school recognized by the American Veterinary Medical Association.  Applicants must be eligible and/or currently registered with the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board. 

VETERINARY ASSISTANT

Veterinary assistants work under the supervision of our doctors and veterinary technicians.  They are responsible for animal handling, care and restraint, assisting in radiology, preparing supplies and equipment for surgery, and some laboratory procedures.  Additional duties include laundry, cleaning, and waste disposal.  Some heavy lifting is required. Occasionally, veterinary assistants may participate in field work with our large animal doctors.  Previous veterinary or medical experience is preferred.  Basic computer experience is also preferred. 

VETERINARY STUDENT EXTERNSHIP

If you are currently a veterinary student, Lisbon Veterinary Clinic offers several opportunities for you to come and spend time at our practice including large animal/equine electives for senior veterinary students and summer externships.  Please contact our office for more information.
